A community-based organisation and a primary school information technology scheme in Ennis have received funding from the Dormant Accounts Fund.
Over EUR36,000 has been allocated to Drumbiggle-based Ennis West Partners in support of its ongoing work in the local community, while EUR10,000 has been provided to Scoil Chriost Ri to help the Cloughleigh school to progress towards achieving Digital School Status.
Welcoming the funding announcement, Minister of State and Clare Fianna Fail Deputy Tony Killeen said: “These funding allocations will go directly to projects dealing with disadvantage and additional investment in our children’s education.”
He said: “Ennis West Partners undertakes valuable work in improving the quality of life for members of the local community. The Dormant Accounts funding will enable the local development group to continue its work which includes enterprise creation and development, education and training, services to unemployed, community development,
and environment and infrastructure works.”
Minister of State Killeen added: “The funds being received by Scoil Chriost Ri will assist the school to progress towards achieving Digital Award Status. The Digital Schools Award is an initiative that recognises excellence in a school’s approach to integrating ICT in its learning and teaching”.
Details of the Dormant Accounts Fund allocations were announced by Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and his colleagues Batt O’Keeffe T.D., Minister for Education and Science and John Curran T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
