2008-03-13 20:51:27 - The Wal-Mart Foundation made a $5,000 donation today to the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits. The check presentation was held at the state capital. Local Wal-Mart representatives presented the check to the Center’s Executive Director, Mary Ellen Jackson. Also in attendance was NH Senator Sylvia Larson, demonstrating her support to community goodwill.

Nonprofit organizations are vital to the well-being of the people, communities and environment of New Hampshire. When nonprofits have strong leaders, are able to adapt to change, are well managed, and have the technical expertise they need, they are able to effectively and efficiently achieve the missions with which our communities have entrusted them.

Founded in 1986, the New Hampshire

Center for Nonprofits is an association of over 500 member organizations who have joined together to strengthen the state's nonprofit sector. The Center works to increase public awareness of how indispensable nonprofits are to NH's well being. Center leaders are dedicated to strengthening the effectiveness of New Hampshire nonprofits by providing them with the knowledge, resources, and tools necessary to enhance their ability to serve the citizens and communities of New Hampshire.

It is the Center’s vision that the nonprofit sector of New Hampshire will have high-quality, easily accessible capacity building resources, a variety of consistent opportunities for learning, and the support needed to sustain strong leadership that adapts creatively to change. As a result, the people, communities, and the environment of New Hampshire will thrive.

Wal-Mart’s philosophy of operating globally and giving back locally motivates the corporation to provide financial support to community support organizations like the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits. In addition to this donation, Wal-Mart Stores and Sam’s Club have contributed $1,380,981 in cash and in-kind donations to local causes and community organizations in New Hampshire. Through additional funds raised through stores and Clubs throughout the state, Wal-Mart contributed and raised a grand total of $2,227,989 as a result of its presence in NH.
