2009-04-29 19:40:05 - A Portion of the Proceeds from Bark for America to Benefit Military Families

Radcliff, KY
Dog lovers everywhere will now have an additional opportunity to support American military families. Dog is Good, LLC, of Seal Beach, CA, announced today a new line from the canine-inspired clothing retailer. United We Stand…Bark for America t-shirts show several dogs standing together against a patriotic backdrop—representing unity and freedom. This whimsical design celebrates the diversity and

dog friendliness of our great nation. A percentage of revenues from each shirt sold will be donated to USA Cares.

“As a military wife for the past 20 years, I am attuned to the sacrifices our military families make, particularly those affected by tragedies and injuries during their service to our great country,” said dog trainer and Dog is Good Co-Founder Gila Kurtz.

“We chose to benefit USA Cares because it exists to help bear the burdens of military service by providing wounded warriors and their families with financial and advocacy support. It is a very small thing we can do to honor our returning heroes who have served many months away from their loved ones to protect our freedoms.”
Bark for America t-shirts are available from the Dog is Good web site at www.dogisgood.com. A 100% cotton unisex shirt in royal blue is available as well as a women’s fitted tee in red pima cotton. All are prewashed to prevent shrinkage.

“Americans of all walks have reached out to USA Cares in our mission to support American military families in need, but today we have gone to the dogs,” quipped USA Cares executive director Bill Nelson. “Seriously, though, we appreciate what Nichole Smith and Gila Kurtz are doing with Dog is Good to assist us and the military families we support.”

USA Cares exists to help bear the burdens of service by providing post 9/11 Veterans and their families with financial and advocacy support in their time of need. The organization works to prevent foreclosures and evictions of military families from their homes, to aid combat injured Veterans to be able to afford the treatment they need and to assist in immediate quality of life issues that can arise while a loved one is serving. USA Cares assists all branches of service, all ranks and all applicants are treated with privacy and respect. No fees are ever charged and no repayment is expected. Monetary grants are provided only to the providers of services needed by the Veteran or their family and the organization maintains a toll-free call center to provide advice, guidance and compassion.
