As part of its ongoing efforts to maintain the highest levels of maritime safety, the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector, continues to ensure the compliance of floating restaurants with industry requirements. This move follows the Authority’s recent distribution of Cruise Logbooks to all floating restaurants to unify vessel records and facilitate improved vessel inspections and surveys in line with maritime safety initiatives across Dubai waters.
Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: “The maritime sector is booming as a result of Dubai’s emergence as a leading tourist destination and, more recently, as the appointed host of Expo 2020.
Investors from all over the world are interested in leveraging available opportunities across all maritime-related industries in the emirate to help raise maritime safety levels in accordance with highest international standards and best practices.”
The Cruise Logbook is a standardized record book that urges floating restaurant businesses in Dubai to record all their vessel operations for later use as a unified source of documented information. They will be of great benefit to marine operators for improving management and technical competencies while offering advanced, high-quality services that meet maritime safety and security standards.
For his part, Ali Al Daboos, Executive Director of Operations, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: “The Cruise Logbook complements DMCA’s series of initiatives and regulations that have been launched as part of the Maritime Sector Strategy (MSS) to develop, regulate and promote maritime operations to create a secure and vibrant maritime sector in Dubai.”
Al Daboos urged all industry entities to adhere to the use of the Cruise Logbook and record all vessel operations accurately and reliably.
“A team of specialists from DMCA are committed to looking into all record contents to ensure credibility of information. The logbook is an essential, unified source that will guarantee the highest standards of safety, quality and excellence across all organizational, administrative, technical and operational processes,” Al Daboos concluded.
