LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 04/19/10 -- As it was announced that UK airspace is opening tomorrow at 0700 DialAFlight, one of the UK's largest travel companies, has started moving some of its clients stranded in the Caribbean to the United States, from where they believe it will be easier to get them home.

DialAFlight currently has around 15,000 customers stranded abroad and more than 200 of its travel advisors worked through the weekend to help customers find an alternative way home.

A spokesperson for DialAFlight explained "There is a massive snowball effect. As each flight is cancelled those clients due to fly go to the back of the queue. We started rebooking clients last Thursday on flights leaving over the weekend and early this week."

"When these flights were cancelled we started rebooking the customers again but every day's cancellation fills up the seats for several days ahead and on some routes there is now no availability for several weeks. So each day's cancellations have several days knock-on effect."

"On some routes, in the Caribbean for example, the problem is simply the low frequency of flights. BA and Virgin between them have just 9 flights a week into Jamaica and all flights are virtually full until the middle to the end of next week."

"We believe that as the skies open up again it will be easier to find availability out of New York where there are hundreds of flights a day leaving for cities all across Europe and operated by a dozen different airlines. Should UK airspace be closed again it may well be possible to bring our customers back into southern Europe."
