Devon IT, the world’s fastest-growing provider of thin client hardware and software solutions, and the most experienced manufacturer of PC-over-IP devices today announced the PC-over-IP double play. This includes its Intel® Atom™-based TC5 thin client with Day 1 support for VMware 4 and its TC10 Teradici-based desktop portal.

Based on the PCoIP protocol, VMware View 4 is the industry’s only purpose-built desktop virtualization solution, setting a new quality, cost and scale standard while eliminating critical barriers that have traditionally restricted customer adoption. The VMware software implementation of the patented PCoIP protocol is a key feature of VMware View 4, raising the bar for delivering a rich, high-quality desktop experience to any user—from the basic task worker to the most demanding power

user—regardless of location, addressing more use cases than ever before. With support for native VMware View software clients and PCoIP-enabled hardware from Devon IT, VMware View with PCoIP is specifically designed to provide customers the flexibility to deploy end-to-end solutions with a variety of end point options to meet the most diverse range of end user and business needs.

“Our Intel Atom processor-based TC5 thin clients deliver performance that rivals recent generations of the desktop PC in a stateless device that occupies a small footprint,” explains Joe Makoid, president, Devon IT. “The TC5 also has no fan and consumes less electricity than traditional desktop PCs, lowering the overall total cost of ownership.
Despite the small price tag, when running VMware View the TC5 provides a powerful alternative to traditional PC desktops.”

"Devon IT’s TC10 is the first desktop access device that gives the end user a true PC experience with instant screen updates, full multimedia support, and full USB compatibility. Unlike a traditional thin client, the TC10 is for demanding users that require real time PC-like capability such as financial traders and power users such as CAD engineers” says Stephane Verdy, chief technology officer for Devon IT.
“Devon IT’s TC10 can now be centrally managed by the VMware View™ Connection Broker. We are proud of our continued relationship with VMware and are anxious to deploy VMware View with the TC10 thin clients to customers."

The TC5 is exclusively a Devon IT product and will be orderable through IBM using an IBM part number. Devon IT’s TC10 Technology is packaged inside the IBM CP20 and is also available from other leading suppliers worldwide.
