This new plan option allows members to keep more of their benefits by excluding charges for diagnostic and preventive services

from the annual maximum, which helps save the annual maximum for times when more costly procedures, such as root canals or crowns, are necessary.

The waived diagnostic and preventive services include oral exams, X-rays, and two cleanings per year. Those affected by certain health conditions may be eligible for up to four cleanings per year, none of which will count toward the annual maximum. The plan feature is available to new groups, or upon renewal for current groups.

"Anytime preventive services are performed, one's overall health may be impacted," said Dr. Phil Wenk, DDS, president and CEO, Delta Dental of Tennessee. "D&P Maximum Advantage promotes better oral health by encouraging members to receive diagnostic and preventive services whenever they need them."
