dELiA*s, Inc. ( NASDAQ.

DLIA : ), a direct marketing and retail company comprised of two lifestyle brands primarily targeting teenage girls and young women, has been selected by Apparel Magazine as a 2009 Apparel All-Star award winner. Originally a direct catalog and online brand, dELiA*s has grown to include 108 retail stores with plans to increase that number

by approximately 15 percent each year.

dELiA*s was nominated for the All-Star award by Predictix, the first and only software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider of enterprise-level retail merchandising solutions. dELiA*s selected Predictix Store Planning : in 2008 because of the system’s flexibility and functionality compared to other solutions on the market as well as for its software-as-a-service model : . Predictix has enabled dELiA*s to “micro-merchandise” by planning departments and merchandise groups at a store level across geographies, to get the best possible mix of stock in each store.

In its 2009 Q2 results press release, dELiA*s CEO Robert Bernard commented that the company was “able to deliver increased retail merchandise margins and control [its] inventory levels,” which can be attributed in part to the store planning improvements dELiA*s has accomplished with Predictix. As Daniela LaRosa, dELiA*s General Merchandise Manager, noted, “With the ability to create localized store plans in Predictix, we now see fewer markdowns and higher margins. We are allocating inventory in line with each store’s requirements, giving them what they need to sell instead of ending up with a lot of markdowns.”

Another key factor in dELiA*s selection as an Apparel All-Star is the company’s continually positive image in the market. dELiA*s is a model for the tween and teen set that continues to keep its fashions fresh without resorting to risqué or inappropriate styles for the age group.
“We love seeing girls and their parents shopping in our stores, and we are proud that we maintain a ‘cool’ image without encouraging the age-inappropriate styles some other stores rely on to sell product,” said LaRosa. Additionally, dELiA*s ongoing donations and efforts with charitable organizations reflect positively on the company and the industry as a whole. “We definitely believe in the ‘think globally, act locally’ philosophy regarding volunteering and good will,” said LaRosa.

“dELiA*s has been a fantastic partner and client, and they’re very deserving of being honored as an Apparel All-Star,” said Jon Beck, EVP of Planning, Predictix. “The dELiA*s team worked hard with us to complete the implementation quickly and seamlessly, and we are happy they are seeing value from their investment every day.”

dELiA*s and the other 2010 Apparel All-Stars will be recognized today, November 11, 2009 at the Opening Keynote Session of Apparel Magazine’s Tech Conference in New York, NY.
