MB Vietnam, one of Southeast Asia’s most successful commercial banks, is leveraging BMC Software (NASDAQ: BMC) to optimize its core banking application and meet rapidly changing business demands.

After years of rapid growth, MB Vietnam, formerly known as the Military Bank of Vietnam, found a pressing need to update its core banking IT system, called Temenos T24, which acts as the nerve center for the bank’s business.

“BMC Professional Services helped us identify current issues in our system while also looking ahead to project future server capacity needs,” said Hoang Van Kien, the chief information officer at MB Vietnam. “BMC Software’s experience and insight into the banking and finance business has helped us more quickly troubleshoot problems and proactively resolve performance issues,

dramatically improving our customer service.”

The successful project with MB Vietnam is the latest example of BMC’s strategic use of software and consultancy to reduce costs for hardware investments – hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings in this case.

BMC’s consultation also led to significant performance improvements, resulting in a faster IT system and less downtime. Two days after purchasing the BMC Capacity Management solution, MB Vietnam was able to detect and prevent the failure of an important banking application and resolve the incident before it became a problem.

“BMC Software quickly learned about our challenges and offered new solutions based on our situation,” Kien said. “They offered much more than just a software product, they provided comprehensive consultation to our team. BMC really has become a partner for our IT department.”
