Conference in Sao Paulo to discuss the latest advancements in fire fighting industry

2013-03-13 11:09:01 - Fire Safe Latin America to be held in June will gather global fire safety professionals to evaluate the latest developments in the fire fighting industry.

Brazil has undergone huge developments over the last few years in the infrastructure industry, tourism industry, rail industry and fire fighting industry. The Brazilian fire and security market is witnessing a turnover of more than R$ 1bn and this figure is expected to reach R$3.7bn by 2017. The demand for fire safety products and services is also expected to go on the rise with Brazil hosting the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. According to UKTI website, the federal government had predicted an extra budget of R$717m for security sector investments in 2012.

Chile, one of the prosperous nations in Latin America has experienced sustained growth in the recent years in tourism and foreign trade. CODELCO, the state owned firm

is the world's largest copper producing company with reserves equaling to 200 years. The Chilean city of Valparaiso is one of the country's most important seaports. A recent fire outbreak in Valparaiso damaged more than 60 homes. The fire which engulfed San Roque hill left more than 400 families homeless. The fire which is being called 'the city's worst blaze in two decades' spread to neighboring areas quickly because of high temperatures and strong winds. Firefighters and army platoons took more than 5 hours to extinguish the fire. Chilean President Sebastian Pinera visited the city after the accident and promised the victims that the area will be redeveloped and the houses of the victims will be restored. These recent incidents and current developments have increased the need for fire safety technology and solutions.

Brazilian Congress is set to revise all the safety regulations in light of all these latest incidents. The initiative is being welcomed by all the local fire fighting authorities. Fleming Gulf Conferences will be organizing Fire Safe Latin America, a summit that will gather fire safety professionals to evaluate the latest developments in the fire fighting industry. Fire Safe Latin America will cover topics like fire safety advances and trends in Latin America, fire security and preparedness for large scale public events, role of ABNT in fire codes and confined space rescue among others. Attendees will be able to hear from speakers from organizations like ThyssenKrupp, Braskem, SFPE, Genpro Engenharia, Petrobras, Brasilian Association of Electrical Engineers and Castrol(BP) among others. The conference will be held on 18-19 June in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
