Commtouch ® (Nasdaq:CTCH) today announced the availability of its new Milter plug-in : , a cross-platform, multi-service Sendmail plug-in designed to enable straightforward integration of Commtouch messaging security filters with Sendmail and Postfix mail transfer agents (MTAs). The Commtouch Milter offers enhanced spam and malware detection based on Commtouch Recurrent Pattern Detection TM (RPD TM ) and GlobalView™ technologies.

“The Commtouch Milter is

a quick, easy way to integrate Commtouch messaging protection into these leading open source messaging platforms, and any others that can work with a Milter, beefing up security and the detection of zombie- or botnet-generated spam,” said Gabriel Mizrahi, Commtouch vice president of technologies. “Using the Commtouch Milter, the Sendmail or Postfix MTA can block harmful or unwanted emails from entering an organization’s network at the network perimeter, saving bandwidth and storage resources.”

The Commtouch Milter can be integrated to provide the following advanced Commtouch messaging security solutions.

- Anti-Spam :
- Zero-Hour Virus Outbreak Protection :
- GlobalView : TM : Mail Reputation Service :

As new messages arrive to the MTA, the Commtouch Milter determines whether or not the messages or the sending IPs pose a security threat, if they are spam or phishing messages, contain a virus, or were sent from a zombie IP address. The Commtouch engines query the Commtouch global data centers, which analyze more than two billion emails per day to provide real-time classifications of the most recent outbreaks. This allows the Commtouch Milter to block messaging threats within seconds of their release.

Sendmail and Postfix are two of the most common mail transfer agents in use today. Security vendors and service providers integrating the Commtouch Milter into their offerings will be able to improve their competitive offering by increasing security, saving valuable time and resources, and increasing productivity with reliance on a fully commercial service.
