Comcast Corporation took the holidays to new heights today with the unveiling of “The Comcast Holiday Spectacular in 3-D,” adding a whole new dimension to what has quickly become one of Philadelphia’s holiday traditions. Community and hospitality leaders from around the region joined Comcast’s Chairman and CEO, Brian L. Roberts, to be among the first to see the fun-filled 19-minute

show full of stunning original holiday imagery, music and more. The 2009 Comcast Holiday Spectacular will be shown on The Comcast Experience video wall in the Comcast Center lobby at the top of each hour from Thanksgiving Day through New Year’s Day. It is the first 3-D viewing experience to ever take place on an 83-foot wide, 4 mm, LED display.

“When we created The Comcast Holiday Spectacular, we wanted to introduce a new holiday tradition to Philadelphians and those who visit this great city,” said Mr. Roberts. “The Comcast Holiday Spectacular has exceeded our expectations and our hope is that this year’s show in 3-D will create even more holiday memories that will last a lifetime.”

The Comcast Experience is the world’s largest 4 mm LED video wall with 10-million pixels of clarity. It was introduced by Comcast and Liberty Property Trust in June of 2008 at the opening of Comcast Center, and since then it has become a major Philadelphia tourist attraction, entertaining thousands of visitors with beautiful artistic displays and amazing imagery.

The Comcast Holiday Spectacular uses 3-D technology to take the audience on a sleigh ride through snow-covered rural Pennsylvania to downtown Philadelphia, dance with The Nutcracker and sing with the Commonwealth Youth Choir’s Keystone State Boychoir and Pennsylvania Girlchoir, and see many more incredible holiday images. All will be given free keepsake 3-D glasses upon arrival to enjoy the show and its exquisite life-like 3-D images.

In the spirit of giving, Comcast and the United Way of Southeastern PA (SEPA) are partnering to encourage people to donate to the United Way’s Community Impact Fund and help fight hunger during this holiday season.

At the start of the show, NBA star Shaquille O’Neal will appear on screen and encourage visitors to donate $5 to the United Way SEPA by texting ‘PHILLY’ to 864833 which will also be displayed on the screen.

“We are thrilled to be a part of The Comcast Holiday Spectacular in 3-D this year which has become a must-see Philadelphia tradition after its original debut last November,” said Jill Michal, President and CEO of the United Way SEPA. “Hunger is a problem that impacts so many people and we are grateful to those who contribute and help to make a difference in our communities during this holiday season.”

The Comcast Holiday Spectacular in 3-D will be shown daily to the public at the top of the hour, seven days a week, from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., beginning November 26, 2009, through January 1, 2010. (Shows are not hosted at 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.) Comcast Center is located at 1701 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Philadelphia, PA, 19103.
