Denver auto collision shop Prestige Imports Collision Repair Center releases consumer information to explain the most popular categories of collision and auto body repair services used for estimates.
Denver, Colorado, March 17, 2010 - Prestige Imports Collision Repair Center today released a public service announcement intended to inform car owners of the pricing categories associated with auto body services quotes and estimates. Over the life of automobile ownership most consumers require auto body repair services at some time. Exact methods and categories may vary but some common services include those listed here:
1) Remove and Install: Sometimes also referred to as “R & I”, service charges associated with items in this category refer to taking a component off the automobile and re-installing it later. Often this may be done for parts that are undamaged but must be removed to provide access to other parts for inspection or repair.
2) Repair:
Time associated with actual items requiring repair is typically expressed in hours and is one of the more subjective parts of the estimate. Insurance company adjusters and repair technicians may find a middle ground of time associated with common repair items. Generally speaking almost every type of repair possible has been performed before so there is ample historical basis to reference.
3) Replace: These charges are associated with references that list repair time associated with each category of repair. If ‘the book’ states 3.5 hours to replace a specific bumper then the fees that insurance companies agree to replace are documented. Standards exist for items in this category with only minor variations.
4) Sublet: Sublets are items that an auto body shop will send out to a third party service provider that may have a skill or specialized equipment that’s required to complete the project. Items in this category may include more generic repairs and maintenance tasks that are better performed elsewhere. Collision Centers such as Prestige Imports typically have more comprehensive capabilities and do not utilize outside services.
5) Miscellaneous: This catch-all category includes things such as “hazardous waste removal” and supplies used in the course of repair. Supplies such as tape, plastic, and paper to cover portions of the vehicle during painting often fall into this category.
The Prestige Imports Collision Repair Center is open Monday through Saturday. Additional information about services is available at the company’s website at www.denver-auto-body.com.
