www.coade.com - COADE announced today that the company's CEO/President, Thomas J. Van Laan, PE, will be guest speaker on June 19 at the Society of Piping Engineers and Designers (SPED) "Hot Topics" Seminar Series event in Houston. Van Laan's presentation, The Role of Pipe Stress Software in the Selection and Location of Pipe Supports, will discuss the two types of loads for which piping must be evaluated - primary or force-driven loads and secondary or displacement-driven loads - and potential areas of conflict in lift off, lock up and load redistribution. He will then cover resolving these conflicts through hanger design and the use of spring hangers, and how to use pipe stress analysis software to make hanger design and
selection easier.
"We have been a long-time supporter of the work SPED does in training piping engineers and designers, so I am honored to have the opportunity to speak to this distinguished group," explained Van Laan. "We are also excited about what SPED has been doing more recently to help prepare piping designers and engineers in process plant design so that they can succeed in the increasingly competitive and diverse global marketplace, and we plan to support this initiative in any way we can."
The SPED "Hot Topics" Seminar Series dinner event, open to members and non-members, begins at 6:00pm at the H.E.S.S. Club, 5430 Westheimer Road. Attendees may RSVP by calling 832-286-3404 or emailing
