For an unprecedented fifth year in a row, readers of Business Insurance once again have named CIGNA's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) the best in the industry. CIGNA (NYSE:CI) competed for the top spot among the nation’s largest providers of Employee Assistance Programs for the publication's "Readers Choice Awards," and was recognized for its long-term commitment to service, value, quality and innovation.

"Pressures on employees and their dependents are greater than ever today, and EAPs are important resources for employers and the people covered through their benefit plans,” said Regis J. Coccia, editor of Business Insurance. “CIGNA’s remarkable consistency as the top choice of Business Insurance's employer readers is a strong indication that they value the services that CIGNA provides."

"To win this

award again is a great honor. It’s very gratifying to know that Business Insurance readers recognize the high level of service and support that our caring employees deliver 24-7 to the people who rely on us, helping them live healthier and more fulfilling lives,” said Jodi Prohofsky, Ph.D., LMFT, senior vice president of health management operations at CIGNA.

CIGNA’s Employee Assistance Program includes services for individuals and their families, and also provides resources to business managers.

People eligible for the program can contact CIGNA by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week and directly access services without a referral.

Typical calls received are related to stress, marital/partner issues, life changes, mood or anxiety issues, depression, career/job concerns, child care and financial and legal issues. Personal advocates and wellness coaches help guide callers through their benefits, provide short-term counseling and connect people to a wide range of services.

Company research indicates that CIGNA's Employee Assistance Program helps people find services, such as child care or elder care, an average of 6 ½ hours faster compared to finding those services on their own.

This convenience often translates into improved productivity and increased satisfaction that benefit both the individuals served and their employers.
