Chromatic Coffee Co. expands to larger coffee roasting facility.
San Jose, CA -- March 14, 2013 --Chromatic Coffee Co. purchased the Historic Realty Building located at 15 - 25 N. 2nd Street, San Jose, one building from the corner of Santa Clara Street. Chromatic Coffee Co. will begin roasting coffee starting mid-March in the 3500 square foot space at the back of the building at 19 N. 2nd Street, Suite 102. Geri Wong, Sr. Vice President of Cornish and Carey said, "This is a great move for Chromatic Coffee, vacancies are down and rents are going up, additionally commercial real estate has firmed up over the past six months." The purchase of the Beaux-Arts architectural style building was completed after almost nine months of negotiations. Also located in the
building are Angelou´s Mexican Grill, The Cheap Squad, and Plan Be, plus several companies in the offices upstairs.
David Anderson, Commercial Loan Officer at Wells Fargo, said, “Chromatic Coffee has secured commercial real estate for their business allowing them to focus more on what they do best, providing high quality products and service to our local area.” The purchase shows the company´s commitment to San Jose by roasting high quality coffee in the city and keeping jobs local. Many employees live in San Jose, bike to work, and plan to keep their carbon footprint small. The coffee bags are designed by award winning graphic artist Benjamin Henderson, and are hand printed on site using a hot stamp machine, a process that was considered a lost art in the US until revived at the company.
Chromatic Coffee is currently sold at their Santa Clara Cafe, online at www.chromaticcoffee.com, and is featured in Cafe Stritch opening March 15th in San Jose. Chromatic rebuilt Cafe Stritch’s 20 year old La Marzocco espresso machine, then customized their filtration system and grinder to complete the coffee bar. James Warren, VP of Sales for Chromatic Coffee, said, “We´re the only company that sources and roasts our beans, plus has the capacity to customize water filters, grinders, espresso and pour over systems, and to service those systems.”
Chromatic Coffee Co. is registered with the FDA for sales to grocery stores.
