Chiquita Brands Sets Annual Meeting Date of May 23, 2013

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - February 22, 2013 - Chiquita Brands (NYSE: CQB) announced
today that it will hold its Annual Meeting of Shareholders on May 23, 2013, at
the company's headquarters located at 550 South Caldwell Street, Charlotte,
North Carolina. The record date for determining shareholders entitled to vote at
the meeting will be March 25, 2013.  In mid-April, the company will mail to
shareholders of record a notice of the meeting and information about accessing
the proxy materials online or obtaining paper copies.
