Child safety company, Guard-A-Kid, ramps up outreach as holiday season approaches and brings with it new concerns for safety. Miami, Florida, November 9, 2009, (Web Distribution) – Child safety is of great concern for parents, educators and caregivers around the world. Too often, however, child safety concerns take a back seat during the holiday season.
"From Halloween through the end of the year, people are rushing around and have a million things on their minds," Frank Scatoni, a 25 year
veteran of the Suffolk County Police Department explains. "It's a time when parents are easily distracted and predators are on the ready. Parents and schools need to be ready," Scatoni urges.
In recent weeks the stories of attempted abductions in Hollywood, Florida and the murders of Somer Thompson and Elizabeth Olten have led to increased awareness of child safety programs. "We are getting many calls and inquiries about child identification programs and our child GPS products," Jasmine Bicelis of Guard-A-Kid™ states.
Guard-A-Kid, a leading child safety company, recently announced a child GPS device, the AmberTracker, geared towards giving parents peace of mind. The device is small, light weight and water resistant. It also includes a panic button so in an emergency a child can notify a parent immediately.
"My kids are mobile now. They basically walk to and from school, they go to their friends' houses, they are in baseball and after school activities," Anita Rubio, 39, Island Heights, NJ explains. "I worry about them all the time but I can't be in three places at once. The kids' grandparents are buying them all child GPS units for Christmas, which is a great gift for me and my husband too," Rubio advises.
Schools across the country are registering for child safety days where children are photographed and fingerprinted. Participating franchisees of Guard-A-Kid™ offer safety programs and fundraisers that provide child identification kits for students and give parents much needed peace of mind.
"The ID kits are great. Most parents are not able to even be coherent when their kid is missing and who can blame them," Scatoni explains. "As law enforcement we need a recent photograph and description as fast as possible and the ability to duplicate them. The identification kits from Guard-A-Kid make our jobs faster and easier," Scatoni concludes.
The joy of the holidays can quickly turn to panic and despair if child safety is neglected or put on hold. Parents and educators interested in learning more about safety programs and products should visit www.guardakid.com or call 800-679-4256.
