The Champions Center was launched in 1999 with the mission to be the best not-for-profit tennis training center in the world for players of all economic backgrounds and develop champions on the tennis court, in the classroom, and life. Since then, the alumni consist of four players currently playing on the professional tennis circuit and over twenty players at top Division I universities on tennis scholarships. The current roster includes 60 children from the greater Washington, DC area, of which five players reached #1 National Rankings in the past 18 months.

The Champions Center has provided superior coaching to junior players for the past eight years, resulting in a number of players earning #1 regional and national rankings, college scholarships, and successful professional careers. JTCC management is committed to providing the best training facility and coaching for its junior players, and the level of energy and planning headed into the ninth year of the program should result in continued success. The Champions Center has provided significant financial aid to those individuals who demonstrate the desire and hard work to become a champion. In 2006, $120,000 was awarded in financial aid, and 2007 financial aid will reach $150,000. Many students who attend the Champions Center come from lower income families, and the financial aid component of JTCC allows for those students to develop their skills. The focus of the Champions Center is not only to garner top tennis talent, but to develop leadership characteristics in its students through academic performance, mentoring programs, community service, and character building exercises. There are a number of reasons to be enthusiastic about the programs offered at JTCC, and we want to share this excitement with the tennis community by inviting them to attend the Champions Celebrity Pro-Am Weekend.

The Champions Celebrity Pro-Am Weekend will be held on Friday, April 20th - 22nd, 2007 at the Tennis Center at College Park. The event will feature former tennis stars and well known celebrity figures that will join together at the Tennis Center to highlight the noteworthy achievements the Center has achieved in the past eight years. Along with many tennis activities during the weekend, there will be a special fundraiser for the Champions Center to be held at the Russian Embassy on Saturday, April 21st. We welcome all people who are interested in attending the Fundraiser at the Russian Embassy and the Champions Celebrity Pro-Am Weekend to contact DJ Butler at (301) 779-3000 ext. 105.
