2013-09-30 13:55:39 - Cezanne HR, the leading supplier of smart HR solutions for mid and small-sized businesses, today announced the availability of a web-native app for Android mobile phones.
The app, which is free to registered users of Cezanne’s Cloud-based HR software, lets companies offer their employees an easy way to manage HR and work-related activities directly from their mobile.
The decision to take the native route followed extensive testing by Cezanne of alternative approaches to delivering mobile and tablet functionality.
John Hixon, Director of Research and Development at Cezanne HR explains: “We’ve all become much more demanding of our smart phones. We expect the apps we download to perform as smoothly and efficiently as those that our phones are shipped with.”
“While the “one size fits all” approach of responsive HTML5 and hybrid apps can offer advantages in terms of speed to market, we found that they didn’t offer as good
an experience as a native development. For example, we found the buttons and screens didn’t perform as expected on every platform, and transition from one area of the application to another – for example from reviewing holiday entitlements to the team diary – could feel disconnected.”
“Since our position is that the user experience has to be paramount, the decision to go native was the obvious one to make.” he says.
The company’s decision was also informed by others in their industry sector who, having taken the HTLM5 or hybrid approach, had decided to redevelop their apps as native.
Using the new mobile app, employees can now check their holiday entitlements and request leave, log sickness and other absences for approval, and view up-to-the-minute team and peer diaries as well as general contact information.
Further functionality, including the ability to post to and receive alerts from the Cezanne’s integrated HR portal and social workspaces, is planned for later this year. A release for IPhone is expected in early 2014.
About Cezanne HR
Cezanne HR provides small and medium-sized businesses with powerful, secure and easy to manage online HR software that helps them reduce costs, streamline HR processes and enable employees to work together more effectively.
Cezanne’s HR software is delivered in the Cloud on a Software-as-a-Service basis. This means it is hosted and delivered online via a secure server, with updates automatically provided to clients as they are released as part of the subscription fee. There’s no need for SMEs to continually invest in their own hardware or software, or in installing updates. They simply log on via the Internet and have immediate access to the latest version of the system from wherever they are.
The online system is the first HR software solution to be offered on a pay-as-you-go basis, with monthly fees being adjusted up – or down – to reflect the average number of employees being managed each month. It is also the first to include, at no extra cost, an innovative employee portal that enables HR to easily share company information and documents and includes social features that allow employees to work together more productively. Pricing is just £2 per employee per month for companies of between 50 and 500 employees for HR and absence management, with performance management costing an extra £1. Special discounts are available to qualifying registered charities and not-for-profits.
Cezanne HR was set up in early 2013 by the former majority shareholders of Cezanne Software, a leading provider of international HR and talent management software, following the sale of the part of the business that serviced larger enterprises. The company’s goal is to help small and mid-sized companies improve employee management and productivity by using Cloud-based technologies to deliver innovative, cost-effective HR software that’s quick to implement and easy to manage, but still offers the sophisticated HR features and advanced security demanded by today’s businesses.
Cezanne HR has already acquired an impressive international customer base, many of whom are well-known brands and innovators in their own markets. Recent customers include Think Jam, Ward Williams, Evolving, Intelliflo, Invitation Digital, Core Technology Systems, Viking River Cruises and SiteMinder. The company has offices and partners supporting customers in mainland Europe and elsewhere.
