-China unveiled a three-year plan on health care reform on April 7, 2009. With 850 billion yuan investment, the plan is considered to lay a solid foundation for equitable and universal access to essential health care for all in China by 2020.

-About100 state-run hospitals chosen from 12 cities will be designated as the pilot hospitals for China healthcare reform;

-To improve primary health care facilities, the central government will fund the construction of 2,000 county-level hospitals, 29,000 township hospitals and upgrading of 5,000 township hospitals; about 3,700 community health centers and 11,000 community health stations will be set up or upgraded by 2011.

The total expenditure on HIT in China will be more than 12 billion yuan by 2010, with an annual increase of 18.2%.
