Oscar winner PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN has thrilled a budding movie-maker at his old high school in New York by agreeing to appear in his student film, SIMPLY LEON.
Bold TIM FARMER asked the CAPOTE star to play the lead in his amateur film when Hoffman visited his old high school, Fairport, last year (05) to pick up a local honour.
The actor recalls, "I got this award... It was all very nice and then at the end this kid's like, 'I'm making this film, would you do this cameo in it?'" Hoffman didn't waste any time and filmed his cameo the same day.
Thrilled Farmer says, "I talked to him for about 20 minutes and we just discussed, 'How did you get started? How did you do this?' and he was just giving me these great answers.
"He said, 'Well, run through it with me, what do I have to do, tell me what I have to do; you're my director now.'" The four-second cameo performance appears at the climax of the film.
