SAVING PRIVATE RYAN has topped a poll for boasting the best battle scenes in cinematic history.
The gripping World War II movie beat off competition from fight-laden ALEXANDER and ZULU, which reached second and third place respectively in the chart, compiled by British movie magazine EMPIRE.
A spokesman for Empire says, "These 23 minutes provide jolt after jolt, leaving the viewer with an aural as well a visual sense of shell-shock." The top five battle movies are as follows: 1. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN 2. ALEXANDER 3. ZULU 4. THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS 5. KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
