2012-11-15 18:39:15 - The Carroll Shelby Foundation kicks off its annual Toy Drive for 2012

GARDENA, Calif. – Nov. 15, 2012 – The Carroll Shelby Foundation is once again asking local car clubs across the country to team up this season and bring holiday cheer to children through the Carroll Shelby Toy Drive. Kicking off today, Nov. 15, 2012, the Carroll Shelby Foundation will encourage car clubs to collect toys and money in their local communities for donation to a charity or children’s hospital of the club’s choice. Established by legendary automotive icon and philanthropist Carroll Shelby, the Carroll Shelby Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides medical and educational support for children from their first heartbeat through their college years.

“Carroll always said that car people were the most generous and caring group in

the world,” said Jenni Shreeves, executive director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “In the third year of the Carroll Shelby Toy Drive, we have steadily grown participation among car clubs across the United States. We want to be a catalyst for local clubs to make sure that every child in need has a wonderful holiday season.”

Under the Foundation’s program each car club will collect toys and deliver them to the local charity or hospital of their choice. The club will set up the toy drive, collection and delivery times with its chosen organization. The Carroll Shelby Foundation will sponsor these clubs by providing two Commemorative Signature Shelby Collectible diecasts per car club to donate as an incentive to encourage participation. In addition, each vehicle that is part of the “special delivery” will receive an official Shelby decal for their car and the first 300 members to sign up for the holiday toy drive will also receive a Shelby poster.

“The holidays can be a trying time for many families due to medical bills, natural disasters like ‘Superstorm Sandy’ and the slow economy,” added Shreeves. “This is a chance to ease their burden by putting a smile on a child’s face. Carroll delighted in making the holidays joyous for young and old alike. We hope car clubs will help us continue Carroll’s good deeds.”

Car clubs can participate by logging on to the Carroll Shelby Foundation website or Shelby Nation, completing a registration form and returning by email (jenni@cscf.org) or fax to (310) 538-0419. The last day to register is Monday, Dec. 10.
