www.calottery.com/ - The California Lottery is adding 1,000 winners of $1,000 in the next few weeks. The promotion is aimed at any players who want a chance to win an extra $1,000!

This effort will create additional winners to those who naturally happen in the course of the game. Any player who buys $5 of SuperLOTTO

Plus plays in one transaction will get a coupon to enter into one of four drawings that will award a total of 1,000 prizes of $1,000. Players can win the $1,000 prize on top of winning the SuperLOTTO jackpot and smaller prizes.

"This promotion is a fun, exciting way to deliver more prizes to more winners," said California Lottery Director Joan Borucki.

The promotion runs from today (April 6) through Saturday April 26. The drawings will happen on four consecutive Wednesdays starting April 16. Each drawing will pick 250 winners.

To participate, players need to buy $5 or more of SuperLOTTO Plus plays in one transaction. With the coupon they receive they can enter the promotional drawing via the Internet at www.calottery.com/1000winners or by mail.

More than 95 cents of every Lottery dollar is returned to the community in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retail commissions. The California Lottery contributes at least 34 cents of every dollar that players spend on Lottery products to public education and returns more than 50 percent of sales to players in the form of prizes. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion to California schools out of total sales of nearly $55 billion. Retailers benefit too, earning $3.5 billion in compensation since 1985.
