- for Employers Group Maris Somerville, 310-207-5663 Wendy Taylor, 323-229-7172 On July 8th, California companies with 50 or more regular employees can join the running to find out how their workplaces rank among their peers by entering the 2nd Annual California's Best Places to Work Program. The program was inaugurated last year by Employers Group, the preeminent human resources expert
and advocate serving California employers.
According to Mark Wilbur, Employers Group's president and CEO, California businesses not only want to win a distinction as an employee friendly workplace, but the process of going through the program also helps benchmark how well their business strategies play into their overall success--which is especially important in today's challenging economy:
"Hundreds of companies participated in 2007, and we expect many more to join the 'race for the best' this year," he adds.
Program participants will have the opportunity to reap such valuable benefits as:
-- Establishing baseline data on their organization's practices
-- Determining how their company's workplace compares to other California employers
-- Gaining an edge in employee recruitment and retention efforts
-- And, as a winner, receiving statewide recognition as a Best Place to Work in California
Employers Group designed the statewide California's Best Places to Work program to identify organizations that excel in creating positive and rewarding workplaces through leading-edge employee benefits and human resources best practices. The program affords participating organizations an opportunity to identify and quantify their organizational strengths and weaknesses relative to their work environments, and provides valuable insight for making organizational improvements.
The deadline to enter California's Best Places to Work program is August 22, 2008, and those wishing to enter can visit www.cabestplaces.com. An entry and administration fee of $125 covers survey development, input and analysis, as well as companies' final Score Report, which details entrants' scores in nine categories and how each ranked among participating companies in each size category.
Winning companies are determined through a comprehensive, two-part employer and employee assessment process designed to gather detailed data on each participating company. They will be honored at a statewide Gala Awards Banquet in early 2009.
Chairman Jay Zimmerman of Bingham McCutchen LLP, last year's 2nd place winning company in the large company category, expressed the value of the program this way:
"(This honor) reflects our spirit and commitment to fostering a positive work environment. We take great pride in investing in our people to cultivate growth and success."
