The actor, who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador on Drugs and Crime, was presented with the U.N. Correspondents Association's Global Citizen
of the Year award at a special dinner to recognize those who are involved with humanitarian causes.
At the presentation, Cage insisted he is glad to use his fame to "to shine a spotlight on the need for global justice."
The Con Air star recently visited a Kenyan prison to speak with Somali pirates awaiting trial, in a bid to boost awareness of the piracy problem in the Indian Ocean.
