BJ's Restaurants, Inc. (NASDAQ: BJRI) today announced the opening of its 90 th restaurant in Carlsbad, California, on October 26, 2009.

The new BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse is located just north of intersection I-5 and Palomar Airport Road, directly across from the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. The restaurant is approximately 8,500 square feet and contains seating for approximately 280 guests and features

BJ’s extensive menu, including BJ's signature deep-dish pizza, award-winning handcrafted beer and famous Pizookie® dessert. BJ’s highly detailed, contemporary décor and unique video statement, including several high definition flat panel televisions, creates a high energy, fun and family-friendly dining environment for everyone to enjoy. Hours of operation are from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

“Sales for our first day of operations were very strong. The Carlsbad restaurant represents our eighth new restaurant this year and our fourth restaurant in the San Diego market, where our guests have enthusiastically embraced the BJ’s concept since we opened our first small format BJ’s Pizza & Grill™ in La Jolla back in 1980. We currently anticipate opening two more restaurants before Thanksgiving (San Rafael, CA and Hurst, TX), thus successfully completing our originally targeted expansion plan for 2009. We currently plan to open as many as 10 to 11 new restaurants during 2010."
