Bharti Airtel deploys Ericsson's intelligent network solution to upgrade its pre-paid platform

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in
20 countries across Asia and Africa, today announced that it has deployed
Ericsson's (NASDAQ: ERIC) Intelligent Modernization Network solution for the
company's prepaid subscribers, across 23 telecom circles in India. Ericsson and
Bharti Airtel planned and executed the systems integration of the solution that
will allow Bharti Airtel to enhance the prepaid customer experience by offering
a wider and more attractive range of prepaid services, flexible bundling and
real-time control of chargeable 
services. As part of the deal, Ericsson's multi-service Mobile Broadband Charging suite will allow prepaid customers to have a personalized profile-based data charging plan. Prepaid customers will be able to customize their data plans across mobility, fixed line and broadband by cross-bundling over multiple domains - 2G, 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi. It will also offer flexible multi-service charging in geographical redundant mode to the world's largest prepaid subscriber base. The wide array of prepaid services, personalized data plans and real-time charging experience will allow prepaid customers to control their mobile usage, thereby allowing us to further enrich their lives." Ericsson's recent ConsumerLab study on India's Generation Z indicated transparent billing and charging were key requirements from service providers. The Bharti Airtel Mobile Broadband solution, powered by Ericsson Mobile Broadband Charging, keeps the subscriber in focus while collecting, deriving and analyzing metrics from various network elements, application servers, and end- user devices.
