Bend Memorial Clinic : (BMC), a leading provider of quality, comprehensive and convenient healthcare in the Central Oregon region, has joined with Deschutes County Health Services and local nurses and doctors to provide H1N1 vaccinations for Deschutes County middle and high school students.

“Protecting the health and wellness of our community is our number one priority,” said Marvin Lein,

CEO of BMC. “Children are among the highest risk groups for contracting this virus. By offering these vaccinations to school children, we hope to ultimately reduce the number of community members who become infected.”

Ten staff members from BMC, including physician’s assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified medical assistants will be assisting Deschutes County Health Services in the distribution of the vaccine.

“We’re excited about partnering with BMC and other community members on this project,” said Shannon Dames, for Deschutes Country Health Services. “It’s great to see so many community organizations rallying together to protect the health of our children, which in turn will protect our community. It takes a community to effectively respond in a pandemic, and we are fortunate to have organizations like BMC, and other frontline providers stepping up to the plate to do their part.”

Vaccinations began on Thurs. Oct. 22 in Deschutes County schools and are planned every day until each public school is served. School districts have tentative dates planned for each of their schools, but clinic dates are subject to change depending on vaccine availability.
