Bangkok Hospital recently unveiled a special package for breast reduction patients, offering the surgery at as little as a third of the cost in the US. Elective patients can access breast reduction surgery at Bangkok Hospital for a special price of 120,000TB, or around US$3,400 at current rates. This is 30% lower than the minimum cost in the US, according to the Consumer Guide to Plastic Surgery. It can be up to 70% lower than the maximum cost, depending on which state the surgery is performed
in.
The package includes:
1 nights accommodation on the surgical floor
Operating Room charges
Routine medication, medical equipment and medical supplies
Anesthesia charges, including anesthesiologist, pre-anesthetic drugs, anesthesia and medical gas
Surgeon's fees
Advisory bodies frequently tell patients to ensure that a low-cost package will cost as much as it claims, by ensuring that it covers the doctor's fee, the anesthesia fee, and the facility fee: these are all included in Bangkok Hospital's package.
Breast reduction surgery alleviates chronic pain of the head, neck, back and shoulders for thousands of women each year. It can also ease irritation of the skin by brassiere straps, and allows physical activity that was previously impossible. Plastic surgeons advise that "the psychological impact [of having very large, pendulous breasts] should not be underestimated".
Breast reduction is often covered by medical insurance, and Bangkok Hospital is able to deal with foreign insurance companies on a patient's behalf.
