2014-08-27 22:47:56 - Avanti Senior Living to Open Community in Houston Area
A new, innovative senior living development, operations and ownership company has entered the market, poised to elevate industry standards and empower seniors with the control to live the life they want. Tim Hekker, and Lori Juneau-Alford founded Avanti Senior Living leveraging their combined 50-plus years of senior living and healthcare experience. Hekker, CEO, and Juneau-Alford, COO, created the company with a vision to fundamentally redefine the customer service experience for assisted living and memory care by providing a quality of life that fosters independence. Tim Hekker has completed $925 million in acquisitions and has developed more than $1.8 billion in senior housing properties over the past 30 years. Juneau-Alford spent 16 years conducting market research and feasibility studies, as well
as lobbying for the senior living industry and hands-on sales, marketing and operation of senior housing communities nationwide. Visionaries, Hekker and Juneau-Alford, recently broke ground on the company’s first community in the Cypress area, Avanti at Towne Lake. Avanti senior living communities will initially be built in Texas, Florida and Louisiana. Then, the company will move into other markets nationwide.
“We plan to create a transformative experience for our residents by giving them a multitude of choices, a culture of connectedness and a sense of empowerment,” said Hekker. “We will customize everything to meet the needs and personal preferences of each resident including the delectable food made-to-order, the activities and entertainment offered, the technology provided and more. We hope to pioneer a revolution in assisted living and memory care, and we truly look forward to creating a community with endless ways to enhance our residents’ lives while providing unrivaled care.”
Avanti’s name means ‘forward’ in Italian, and every part of the design focuses on creating a culture that emphasizes personal choice and control to preserve resident dignity, while delivering world class care and support, along with inspirational experiences. All Avanti communities will bring a unique balance of sophisticated living, cutting-edge design and technology, and unrivaled care that will surpass the highest benchmarks currently in the senior living industry.
“We are passionate about our commitment to become change agents in senior living and look forward to providing exceptional care to all seniors,” said Juneau-Alford. “We plan to overcome common misconceptions and aim to surpass the highest benchmarks in the senior living industry. Our communities will include a unique balance of sophisticated living, cutting-edge design and technology and exceptional care. We want to activate the residents’ senses, so they can taste, feel and see new experiences.”
Avanti communities will be truly unique as they establish a lifestyle where the residents have a multitude of choices. An “experience coordinator” will be available at each community to customize personal preferences in regard to meals, activities, wellness, entertainment and more. Residents can pick and choose when they want to participate in activities, when and where they prefer to dine and how they wish to plan their day. The design and culture of Avanti communities will be evocative of a resort hotel encompassing style, timeless hospitality and sophistication. Each resident will have generous oversized suites designed for style, sophistication and comfort. Each Avanti community will feature multiple lifestyle options in regards to activities, cuisine, special services and more to allow seniors to make their own choices and be in control of the life they deserve. From educational activities and entertainment selections to the myriad of destinations throughout the community such as the lounge, five courtyards, art studio, wellness center complete with an exercise room with a ballet bar and specialized equipment, telehealth room and doctor office, theater, full service salon with nail bar and spa offering massage services.
“Avanti is the most forward thinking client we have,” said Paul Donaldson, managing principal of PRDG, a senior housing architect company. “While they are veterans in the senior living industry, they are not afraid to challenge the traditional mindset on design, services and culture. We know that they are open to new ideas and they bring new thoughts to us that are definitely cutting-edge. They understand the aspects of care that are fundamental for success, and they are putting a new cutting- edge face on it.”
Avanti’s memory care, called Salize, will provide a stimulating assortment of textures and colors, while also creating a climate that is conducive to serenity at every level. Salize memory care residents will receive personalized music programs, enjoy walking or sitting in extra-large outside areas, and experience moments of calm in a special tranquility room. The name is derived from the word Salice, meaning “willow” in Italian. Willow trees, much like memory care residents, adapt and even thrive in the face of difficult life stresses.
“As the willow tree bends under strong winds, but bounces back and continues to flourish, so too, Avanti creates an environment where those living with dementia are treated with dignity and respect. They will be able to flourish, despite the challenges created by memory loss,” said Juneau-Alford. “Avanti aims to provide the most engaging environment where assisted living and memory care residents have the highest quality of life experience available.”
“Our vision is to provide a lifestyle experience that maximizes personal independence through extraordinary personal choices, ease of control and access to information,” said Hekker. “To support this vision, we will provide training that emphasizes each team member taking ownership for each resident’s needs as they become apparent – through creativity and caring. Team members will be empowered with the knowledge and resources to be problem solvers who make a measurable difference every day.”
