On Tuesday, December 4, took place the Open Science & Innovation Forum as a networking event for industry and research, providing information on knowledge transfer within the environment of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The conference brought together more than 250 attendees, including researchers and companies like Repsol, Almirall, Grupo Ferrer, Menarini, HP, Banco Sabadell, Danone, Nutrexpa, Panrico, Gallina Blanca or Trifermed among others.
The Rector of the UAB, Ferran Sancho, the Vice Chancellor of Strategic Projects and Planning Lluis Tort, the President of the Association of Friends of the UAB, Antonio Franco, and the President of the Board of the UAB, Alicia Granados, gave their welcome to the participants, highlighting the success of the event and supporting the initiative.
Throughout the day the first UAB Networking & Meetings Exhibition took place to bring together the worlds of research and business. A successful initiative to establish contacts between the researchers and the private sector through personal interviews. Specifically, there were about 1,000 interviews that shall generate new collaborative projects between research and industry.
In the afternoon, professionals in the field of knowledge, technology and innovation
transfer discussed in a round table about learnings and further innovation projects. Afterwards the Awards for Excellence in Technology Transfer were handed over to their winners.
The Open Science & Innovation Forum is a multidisciplinary forum, comprising various areas of innovation, both scientific and technological, social and environmental. The event was organized by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, International Campus of Excellence, in collaboration with the Association of Friends of the UAB, the UAB Research Foundation and Social Council.
Over the last years, Trifermed supported various Research Groups and spin-off companies of the UAB in its strategy implementation or partnering with international collaborators or investors.
