AuthenTec (NASDAQ:AUTH), the world’s leading provider of smart fingerprint solutions, today announced that leading PC manufacturer and longtime customer ASUS is now shipping multiple notebooks using AuthenTec’s Windows Biometric Framework (WBF) solution. AuthenTec’s WBF solution has been integrated into multiple ASUS notebook models that also include AuthenTec fingerprint sensors for enhanced touch-powered features including security, convenience and personalization.

AuthenTec has worked closely with Microsoft throughout the development of the Windows Biometric Framework – an architecture for biometric fingerprint sensors and devices, and a key addition to Microsoft’s new Windows 7 operating system. WBF allows developers of fingerprint management applications to work with supported fingerprint sensors in systems using Windows 7, providing ease of fingerprint sensor integration for PC manufacturers and a

more consistent user experience.

“ASUS has once again demonstrated its leadership in the IT market by offering products that incorporate cutting-edge technologies, including our newest line of notebooks that use the new Windows Biometric Framework (WBF) solution offered by AuthenTec,” said James Tung, ASUS Deputy Product Director. “These are among the first production notebooks in the world to integrate the new WBF architecture, and we are very pleased to bring these Centrino II-based notebooks that leverage the touch-enabled features of AuthenTec’s sensors and WBF solution.”

“ASUSteK continues to differentiate their products with the addition of new features and capabilities, including the new Windows Biometric Framework,” said Tom Aebli, AuthenTec Vice President of PC Products.

“ASUS is now offering WBF as an integrated solution on notebooks well ahead of the rest of the industry. We look forward to supporting the integration of WBF into ASUS’ Centrino 2 notebooks, as well as their next generation notebooks with new Intel core processors when introduced in 2010.”

Millions of today’s PCs include AuthenTec smart fingerprint sensors to enable security, convenience, personalization and navigation. Based on the Company’s patented TruePrint® technology to deliver extremely accurate and reliable fingerprint imaging, AuthenTec sensors read below the surface of the skin to the live layer, where a person’s true fingerprint resides. TruePrint allows AuthenTec to offer the smallest sensors on the market, yet provide all the security, privacy and convenience afforded in its larger form factor devices.
