Atrium Companies, Inc., one of the largest manufacturers of residential vinyl and aluminum windows and patio doors in North America, today announced its intent to open a new Texas vinyl extrusion facility.

Located in Greenville, Texas, just 50 miles east of Dallas, Atrium has signed a new lease agreement for a 120,000 square foot manufacturing facility that will serve Atrium’s growing vinyl extrusion needs in support of its window and patio door manufacturing growth plans. “We expect to begin operations in December 2010, and will initially employ 20 people at the new facility, with future expansion likely as production volume demands increase according to market growth expectations,” stated Bob Burns, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

“Having a state of the

art facility, centrally located in the United States, allows Atrium to increase the level of in-sourced vinyl extrusion availability at our manufacturing locations throughout the U.S. Once this facility is fully operational we will internally supply most of our vinyl extrusion needs,” said Kevin P. O’Meara, chairman and chief executive officer. O’Meara continued, “This will allow us to maximize our responsiveness to our customers’ needs and ensure we offer state of the art products as the market for energy sensitive windows and patio doors evolves.”

Atrium currently operates three vinyl extrusion facilities that are located throughout North America, and the additional capacity of the new Greenville facility will help support Atrium’s overall growing vinyl window production demand.
