Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai switches over to Canola Oil

2013-01-22 12:11:59 - Asian Heart Institute switched over to Canola Oil in their Hospital Kitchen. All patients will now get diet prepared in Canola Oil.

Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai is India's Highest Accredited Hospital with JCI, NIAHO & ISO certifications and over 1,00,000 patients have been treated by AHI Doctors in over 8 years with a lowest surgical mortality rates in the world, 0.26% in isolated bypass surgeries & an overall mortality of 0.8%. Over 9,000 cardiac surgeries performed in last 8 years.
Recently,
Dr Aashish Contractor, Head of Preventive Cardiology and Rehabilitation Department, Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai says, “When used as part of a balanced diet, canola oil has been shown to lower blood cholesterol levels and has a beneficial effect on clot formation, thereby decreasing the risk of heart disease and stroke.”
Highlighting how it helps in lowering the bad cholesterol levels he further

adds, “Its high content of mono-saturated fats (61%) along with polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) can help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease by lowering LDL (bad cholesterol) in the blood and helping control blood glucose levels."
