However the very fact that the DVLA hold these number plate back has been the centre for some complaints as it is believed that all new number plates should be available to anyone and not just people who can afford to spend thousands of pounds.

At the last DVLA auction they sold a number plate with the combination WEL 5H (WELSH) for £27,200!
