LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/18/09 -- Skylark Press announces the publication of artist Luc Leestemaker's new book "The Intentional Artist: Stories From My Life" ( www.TheIntentionalArtist.com : ) with an innovative pre-sale promotion campaign. The book is a combination of stories and essays that illustrate ways of thinking outside the box, and, according to the artist, "illustrate how the use of creative thinking can be applied as much by artists as by business executives; in both the business-of-art and the art-of-business."
With some 80 color plates, "The Intentional Artist" will also be a visual testament to Leestemaker's 20 years of painting in the US.

Leestemaker emigrated to the US from the Netherlands in 1990 and after overcoming personal and professional challenges in a new country, ultimately found international success. He is currently represented by galleries worldwide and has had two museum retrospectives of his work. His collaboration with Hollywood's film industry has led to a number of film and television projects, including "Spiderman," "Bringing Down the House,"
"Erin Brockovich," "Shopgirl," and "Boston Legal." Leestemaker collaborated with famed composer and musician Charlie Haden to create the artwork for Haden's 2005 Grammy Award-winning CD, "Land of the Sun." In 2006, the award-winning Canadian composer Vincent Ho used four paintings by the artist as inspiration for a chamber music work in four parts, titled "Four Paintings By Leestemaker." Funded by the Canadian Arts Council, this work was performed at music festivals throughout China.

To promote the pre-sale of the book, which will be available by February 2010, the publisher, Skylark Press, has set up an on-line campaign that offers anyone who pre-orders the book the chance of winning one of three paintings by Leestemaker valued at more than $25,000. According to the publisher, hundreds have already signed up and the excitement is building.

"It's a good example of new methods of marketing and communication,"
Leestemaker said, "As an artist, you can not afford to hide in your studio and hope someone finds you; you need to support your work; get out there and let them know you exist." An international book tour is planned, in which galleries as well as bookstores, universities and cultural centers will host talks and book signings. After Leestemaker attended a few Dale Carnegie workshops to prepare himself for the public events, an executive showed interest in developing a series of workshops with the artist based on the creative principles laid out in the book. "I can't wait to see a group of executives and artists together in a room," Leestemaker said. "The left and right hemispheres of the brain colliding and learning from each other will be very empowering."
