- ARMSTRONG/ROBITAILLE/RIEGLE Fred Armstrong, 714-221-3900 farmstrong@ar-ins.com Insurance professionals Fred Armstrong and Frank Robitaille, both CPCUs (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters) and the former heads of Armstrong/Robitaille, one of the Top 100 brokerages in the United States, have taken on Laurie Riegle, CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist), updated the name to Armstrong/Robitaille/Riegle and launched a new venture, opening an office
in Orange County.
With offices in Orange County, Pasadena, San Francisco, Portland and Ann Arbor, the original Armstrong/Robitaille, founded in 1979, was a prime acquisition target of Union Bank of California (UBOC) when it ventured into the insurance arena in 2001. The firm had excelled at serving primarily middle-market companies' risk and insurance management needs and was one of a few select agencies to achieve the distinguished ISO 9001 certification, a global confirmation of excellence awarded by the International Standards Organization, Geneva, Switzerland.
The pair continued working with the bank, assisting with three other brokerage acquisitions for another three years. After a brief stint at retirement, they watched the industry unravel from upheaval in pricing models and delivery channel flaws for both insurance and benefits and wanted to get back into business.
"Client focus is secondary to brokers' quest for a sale and broker representatives are moving to new firms at unprecedented levels," said Armstrong, executive vice president, A/R/R. "We see this as an opportunity to be the trusted advisor clients really need."
Robitaille, president, A/R/R continued, "The Real Estate segment, for one, operates without adequate -- or any -- earthquake coverage at reasonable rates.
