- Application Security, Inc., the leading provider of database security solutions for the enterprise, today announced filmmaker Justin Termini as the official winner of the 2008 Database Security Cinema SMACKDOWN contest with his hit, Database Security is Important.

Termini's film - a black-and-white crime drama - won based on its originality, creativity and superior production quality. As the crowned winner of the 2008 Database Security Cinema SMACKDOWN contest, he will receive $1,800 for his submission. The film will be publicized on www.appsecinc.com, as well as featured at the 2008 Boston Film Night Retrospective.

"Who knew that database security could be so entertaining?" said Thom Van Horn, director of product marketing for Application Security, Inc. "Justin's piece was not

only a creative expression of a somewhat abstract concept for a film, but it hammered home the reasons why companies need to secure their information. We are committed to taking a new approach to information security, and the 2008 Database Security Cinema SMACKDOWN contest is the first in a series of unique initiatives to highlight the need to address age-old data protection challenges."

Runner-up is Jordan Harris of Leonardo Studios was awarded runner up with his film , who entered Breathing Space, an animated film that chronicles a 'database superhero' in his fight to defend the database from evil vulnerabilities. Third place was awarded to Montage, which cleverly spliced together comic clips to create a laugh-out-loud film created by Jason Kreher. Both will receive $300 from Application Security, Inc.
