American Muslim Chamber of Commerce
Established in Washington, DC

Like many community organizations, the American Muslim Chamber of Commerce (AMCC) was recently established by a committed group of American Muslim business professionals and individuals in response to the pressing need to create an organization that would respond to the various needs of the growing American Muslim business community.

The Chamber will become a vehicle that serves as our voice before government entities, provides strong advocacy for services and develops policies that will stimulate economic growth through business development within our communities.

Our mission is to promote the development of trade and investment opportunities between the United States and the entire Muslim world. Our membership will include small, mid-sized and large manufacturing

companies, service providers, nonprofit organizations and individuals.

Khalid A. Ahmed of Washington, DC has been selected President and CEO of the Chamber. He brings a tremendous amount of experience in contacts in the Middle East to the AMCC. He currently serves as Managing Director of the US Reconstruction and Development Corporation.

“The work our Chamber encompasses a broad range of topic areas that are important to our membership, including economic development, business advocacy, interfaces with all levels of government and an offering of high quality services to individual members. I will work with our Board and staff to maintain and improve the high standards of quality, consistency and relevancy that our members will enjoy for many years, said Khalid Ahmed.

In a Washington, DC news conference, Khalid Ahmed stated “my goals as President and CEO is to ensure more frequent and effective engagement with business leaders, economic development agencies, post secondary education institutions, and diplomatic missions. By doing so, we can increase our advocacy impact, make noticeable progress on important matters and speak with a common voice”.

He further stated that “the AMCC is committed to ensuring that the environment within which we and our members operate is conducive to business development and growth both nationally and internationally. Through our lobbying efforts as a national private sector business organization and our input on Government policies, legislation and social climate, we seek not only to encourage foreign direct investment in the United States but also to encourage the growth of local business. By leveraging the global AMCC network, we are also in a unique position to facilitate the formation of direct links between our members and businesses globally”.
