Alma Manu planning the future of its Rovaniemi newspaper printing facility

ALMA MANU PLANNING THE FUTURE OF ITS ROVANIEMI NEWSPAPER PRINTING FACILITY

Alma Media's printing and distribution company, Alma Manu Oy, is planning the
future of its newspaper printing facility in Rovaniemi, Finland, and is
therefore starting statutory personnel negotiations.

The negotiations concern the entire staff of the Rovaniemi printing facility and
mailing department, a total of 23 employees. The topic of the negotiations is
the planning of the future for the Rovaniemi printing facility and the various
options involved, as well as the possible measures affecting staff and the
reasons, effects and alternatives of these measures.

One of the options in the plans is discontinuing printing in Rovaniemi and
transferring the products now being printed there to other newspaper printing

  If, after an analysis of the options, this would be the decision, it
is expected to happen no earlier than in 2015 and might lead to the redundancy
of the entire staff of the facility.

The present printing facility in Rovaniemi started operations in 1987, after
which its equipment has been partly modernised in 2005. The economic life of the
facility is nearing the point where decisions about potential additional
investments are required. Of newspapers published by Alma Media, the Rovaniemi
facility prints Iltalehti, Pohjolan Sanomat and Lapin Kansa.
