Based in London, the Swiss writer Alain de Botton talks about

his Swiss roots and how they've informed his view of philosophy and architecture. Have his ideas on philosophy, aesthetics and architecture stemmed from this early exposure to Zurich's minimal aesthetic? He also explains why he believes he's become a "popular" philosopher and he discusses the notion of work. Why is work so integral to our sense of identity?
