Akridge, a comprehensive real estate services firm, announces a long-term lease with medical technology firm, Becton, Dickinson and Company for 5,210 square feet at 700 Sixth Street. They join global law firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, who lease approximately 85,000 square feet in the Building. Akridge developed the project, which opened in July of this year, and currently provides construction management, leasing and property management services for the building.

700 Sixth Street is a 300,000 square foot trophy class office and retail building that sits midway between the White House and the U.S. Capitol in downtown Washington’s East End submarket. Clients and personnel will enjoy Metro access on the same block, the neighboring Verizon Center arena, and some of the

city’s most popular restaurants of the Penn Quarter neighborhood.

A modern yet traditional building designed by renowned architecture firm HOK, 700 Sixth Street features a glass curtain wall combined with traditional limestone columns, high end finishes and windows on all sides. This Washington office building is anticipating a LEED Platinum certification and boasts sustainable design features including a green roof, for which Akridge was awarded a Chesapeake Bay Foundation grant.

Becton, Dickinson and Company is expected to relocate to the Penn Quarter building this spring. Becton, Dickinson and Company was represented by Chris Bynum, Managing Director in Jones Lang LaSalle’s Washington office. 700 Sixth Street was represented by Ben Meisel, Director of Leasing, and Greg Tomasso, Vice President of Akridge.
