2012-02-13 19:12:27 - Well-attended event a great success

Tysons Corner, VA – February 13, 2012 – AFCEA NOVA, the largest chapter in the AFCEA International family, held its 31st Annual Valentine’s Ball on Saturday. The well-attended event, held at the newly renovated Hilton McLean in Tysons Corner, has long been considered one of the premiere social events within the Washington metropolitan community, and this year was no exception.

“We were extremely pleased by the incredible turnout this year,” said Chuck Corjay, Chairman of the AFCEA NOVA Valentine’s Ball. “We understand this is a tough year for many companies, so we truly appreciate that so many outstanding organizations stepped up and committed to this event, where excess proceeds go towards educational scholarships through the AFCEA NOVA Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are

provided to students in the Northern Virginia area studying the hard sciences including mathematics, information technology, computer science, and others – it truly is a great way to give back to our industry and our community.”

The Ball brought together nearly 700 industry, military, and federal government telecommunications and IT professionals and their spouses, in an elegant, fun social environment. The black tie gala included a reception, musical entertainment, dinner and dancing. This year, the Victory Belles, a charming vocal trio, took guests on a nostalgic journey through World War II-era musical classics. The Victory Belles perform often at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans and at special events around the world, honoring our military through their rich harmony.

AFCEA NOVA is the largest Chapter in the AFCEA International family, with approximately 7,000 members, and an equal number of associates and friends in industry, government, & academia.
