New Delhi: After keeping the party waiting for the whole day Advani finally abandoned his plans to shift to Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and has agreed to contest from Gandhinagar in Gujarat, complying with the party’s earlier decision.

“I have conveyed my opinion to Rajnath Singh”, said Advani. He was found to be sulking over not being offered the choice to pick his own seat, to which Rajnath Singh had said; “It is the unanimous view of the party that the choice of where to contest from should be left to Advaniji himself. The party will respect the opinion of Shri Advaniji."

Advani further added that he was deeply touched by the gesture of his party colleagues.
Although Advani’s statement

can be seen as an end to the ongoing crisis within the party, sources reveal that the settlement was accelerated by RSS.

Modi had met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat before paying Advani a visit on Thursday morning. Senior leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari and Arun Jiatley had also visited Advani throughout the day before he finally announced his decision.
