4 February 2013 – Advanced Learning (formerly Serco Learning), an Advanced Business Solutions company, announces the launch of CMISGo. CMISGo - the ‘first to market’ web-enabled timetabling solution tailored for use on smartphones – has been specifically designed to improve the student experience while enabling higher and further education (HFE) institutions to improve the management of their resources.

CMISGo integrates with Advanced’s CMIS management information system and other HFE portals and virtual learning environments to ensure personalised timetables are easily and rapidly made available to students. CMISGo provides four solutions with different combinations to suit individual institution requirements, including CMISGo mobile, CMISGo live, CMISGo SMS and CMISGo web.

Using CMISGo mobile, students can receive timetables and any updates directly to their smartphones.

The other options enable the receipt of timetables via the web and through their Microsoft live@edu and Office 365 accounts. Students can also receive timetabling information via SMS text messaging using CMISGo SMS, ensuring they are always aware of where they need to be and when.

Dean Dickinson, Managing Director of Advanced Learning, says, “By having instant access to an up-to-date timetable and being informed of changes to lectures and important course information, all via their smartphone, dramatically impacts the student’s experience and their overall impressions of the course and institution.”

CMISGo also improves communication with students, allowing lecturers to message students collectively or individually. This could involve circulating slides before or following a lecture or messaging a certain student who is regularly late for lectures to request that they are on time in future.

In addition, as CMISGo provides institutions with greater timetabling transparency, this ensures that the use of available resources including lecturers, lecture theatres and laboratories are being maximised.
Dickinson adds, “It’s vital for higher and further education institutions to have a clear and accurate understanding of which resources are in use and when to avoid these resources from being under-utilised, thereby proving an unnecessary and costly expense. CMISGo delivers that crucial, holistic view of resource use, enabling smarter resource management.”
