A Coleshill based IT firm has left competitors across the West Midlands in its wake after securing two nominations for highly coveted awards.
Acutec, situated on Church Hill, has been shortlisted for the Most Improved IT Business and the Best Added Value Project awards at the West Midlands ICT Excellence Awards 2009.
The company is one of only four organisations nominated in each category at what will be the fourth year of the annual awards ceremony at Birmingham Motorcycle Museum on November 10, 2009.
It
is the second year running that Acutec has been nominated for the Most Improved IT Business award after finishing as runner-up in the same category last year.
The Best Added Value Project nomination comes after Acutec landed a $250,000 contract to help with regeneration in northern Sudan, Africa following a bitter civil war.
The contract is from a government project called the Community Development Fund (CDF), which is sponsored by the Multi Donors Trust Fund and managed by the World Bank.
Acutec will specify, design, write, implement and train staff at the CDF in the use of a Management Information System (MIS). The software will assist in the management of a range of much-needed projects including everything from building hospitals and schools to solar electrification.
Chris Roche, managing director of Acutec, said: “We are delighted to have been considered for these two highly sought after awards.
“To be nominated in the Most Improved IT Business category for the second year running is a huge achievement and underlines our commitment to improving the quality of our services year on year.
“We are really looking forward to the awards ceremony and have our fingers crossed for the big night.”
