Los Angeles, CA -- On Monday, June 15th, the most popular German-language television station, RTL, aired an impressive segment on the Los Angeles-based actor, Thomas Mikusz. Based in Cologne, Germany, RTL is famous for its stellar programming and edgy productions which are a welcome change to the shows on public channels. Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, Mikusz is from a hot topic country. After winning the Oscar for Best Foreign Film The Counterfeiters in 2007 and earning a nomination Revanche in 2008, Hollywood has its eye on Austria. Just this year, Cannes honored the Austrian feature “The White Ribbon” with Best Film and Austrian actor, Christoph Waltz Inglourious Basterds, with Best Actor.
Due to his acting success, Mikusz was also featured on the heavily watched Taiwanese Station TVBS. Mikusz also starred in the LA Film short, “Sink or Swim by German director Bruno Schiebel. Mikusz’s role as Coach Hans Joachim showcases his comedic timing and hilarious delivery. Schiebel’s recent work as Assistant Camera on Werner Herzog’s latest feature “My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done proves he’s an up-and-coming name in German & American cinema. “Sink or Swim” will show at film festivals in the United States and Europe.
Mikusz has worked in Theater, Film and Television all over Austria, Germany and the U.S. He now lives in Los Angeles where his talents have been put to use on the CBS television series “The Unit on NBC’s “Passions” and “Days of Our Lives” and as General von Gelhen in the award-winning feature film “Intelligence” (featuring Milo Ventimiglia). His U.S. theatre credits include the Los Angeles Theater Production of “Spring Awakening” by Frank Wedekind, the world premiere of “Antisemitropolis” and the award-winning production of “I Am A Camera” at the New Theater in Miami (home of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize).
All these outlets are drawn to Thomas Mikusz due to his talents but also his fascinating life.
