ORLANDO, March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Able Planet, Inc. announced today that its wireless Able Talker(TM) Assistive Listening System won a CTIA Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Award at CTIA WIRELESS 2007 for the Healthcare/Public Safety/Transportation category. Winners were announced today at an Award Ceremony at the Orange County Convention Center during the show.

The CTIA E-Tech Awards program is designed to give industry recognition and exposure to the best wireless products and services in the areas of Consumer, Enterprise and Network Technology. Applications were reviewed by a panel of recognized members

of the media, industry analysts and technology experts. Products in four categories: hardware, consumer applications, enterprise solutions and network infrastructure, were judged on innovation, functionality, vision, technological importance and implementation.

"The E-Tech awards program continues to grow and showcase innovative products that extend wireless offerings to consumers and enterprises," said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA WIRELESS. "On behalf of CTIA, we congratulate Able Planet on their award and look forward to their continued innovation in the field of consumer applications."

The new Able Talker(TM) Assistive Listening System from Able Planet Inc. is the first completely wireless system of its kind, the first equipped with patent-pending Linx Audio(TM) that enhances sound clarity and speech intelligibility, and the first to offer a listening range of 35 feet without obtrusive cables and extension cords.

Designed for use in settings ranging from at-home conversations to cars, restaurants, lecture halls and beyond, Able Talker is a palm-sized radio frequency transmitter with a noise reduction microphone that beams clear sound directly to Able Planet's Clear Harmony(TM) Wireless Headphones or Able Ear(TM) Wireless Hearing Aids without tethering the user to a cord. A small docking station included in the package allows the transmitter to be plugged into a TV, MP3 player, stereo, radio, telephone or other audio device for cable-free sound delivery to the hearing instrument without the line-of-sight requirement of infrared systems.

Clear Harmony Wireless Headphones and soon-to-be-released Able Ear Wireless Hearing Aids provide unsurpassed sound clarity and speech intelligibility through a proprietary Able Planet technology called Linx Audio(TM) that alters the audio signal increasing the intensity of higher frequency harmonics, filtering undesirable sounds and reducing distortion making it easier to hear words or sounds in higher frequencies where clarity is often lost. The microphone built into the Able Talker handset filters out background noise, further enhancing the listener's ability to participate in conversations even in noisy rooms. Together, these radio frequency-based components offer better sound quality than FM-based assistive listening systems by providing a true digital solution delivering 16-bit audio precision.
